White Pumpkins Eucalyptus Fall Swag

October 5, 2021 | DIY Seasonal Decor, Fall, Swag

It is time to start thinking about all those fall decorations for the inside and outside of your home. If you are looking for the perfect new swag for your front door then you are in the right place. Follow along as I teach you how to take a pine tine base and turn it into a nice Eucalyptus Fall swag.

Eucalyptus Fall Swag

Making a new swag is so much faster when you already have a premade bow to attach to it. When you make bows ahead of time you are really helping yourself out. Trust me on that. I am here to tell you that it saves you time and steps to have a bow ready to use!

Today I am going to show you how to use a blast off bow we made with fall inspired ribbon as our inspiration for this beautiful fall swag. The different Eucalyptus tones add so much depth to this fall piece. They really are a nice neutral palate instead of the traditional orange colors. The pods also add a unique touch to the various types of greenery and your white pumpkins will pop!

Follow along in this tutorial as I teach you how to make a swag that you will love. Swags are great items to make for front doors. They are also super simple because you have premade base you are just adding to.

First things first, I am going to teach you how to shake hands with your swag base. This is where you just use your base and fluff it out. You want to get all your pine tines spread out and fluffed. We are wanting it to be very flat on the back so it lays nice on someone’s front door.

Directions

  • Start by fluffing the branches of your swag base, leaving the center of the base a bit flat to give space to add more components. Grab your pod stems and fluff the branches. Add to the center of your base so that it extends a bit above the top. Secure it in there by twisting the pine branches around the stem. Place a second pod stem in the center of your base going in a downward direction, opposite of the first. Tuck in any exposed stems and twist the pine branches to secure the pods down.
  • Use your wire cutters to separate some stems from the Eucalyptus bushes and spread the branches. Dip the end in your glue pot and place it into the top right of your swag base. Add a second Eucalyptus slightly down on the left side. Keep adding Eucalyptus facing downward on either side of the center greenery pods. Use hot glue to secure each stem into the base.
  • Now it’s time to add your bow that we made in Bow Wednesday! Use the zip tie and place it in the center but slightly more towards the top. Secure into your base and cinch tight. Fluff the bow loops if necessary.
  • Separate the Eucalyptus bunches with brown tones into smaller stems with your wire cutters. Dip the ends in hot glue and add a few stems coming out from the top of your swag. Add a few more stems in the center starting behind your bow coming upwards and a few also going downwards toward the bottom to add some depth. Make sure to secure each stem with hot glue.
  • Grab your white pumpkins and use your floral pins and hot glue to insert them into the swag base. Start with an oval shaped one below the bow with the stem downward in the center. Add a round pumpkin just below the previous one, and a “curvy” small pumpkin at the bottom.
  • Add two more various shaped pumpkins towards the top of your swag base above the bow. Take your Autumn greenery bush and fluff each stem. Separate using your wire cutters into smaller stems. Add some greenery pointing downwards to the right on the bottom of your swag. Insert another greenery stem to the left and right of your bow.
  • Add another stem of greenery directly behind the center of the bow to break the plane of other parts of your piece. Another greenery stem can be hot glued in the top center and in between two pumpkins just under the bow. Fluff any stems necessary and enjoy your beautiful fall swag!
