Spider Wreath for Halloween

How often do you find yourself looking for something to make? If you’re like me, the answer is always. Crafters are an inventive bunch and we will try anything to get our creative juices flowing! This week, I’m going to show you how easy it can be to take a spider lawn ornament and turn it into a wreath that’s perfect for any door or window in your home this Halloween season.

To start this project first you will need a yard ornament that has a stem on it. These are the things you would typically purchase and place in potted plants or in your front yard. However, we are not going to use this yard ornament for that purpose. Just wait and see what exactly we do with this spider yard ornament. I promise you are going to be thrilled with the outcome!

If you are wondering where to find these fabulous yard ornaments I found mine at the At Home Store. You can find these really anywhere, and there are lots of cute ones out there. I suggest looking in your big department stores seasonal decor sections. I am sure you won’t be disappointed and the possibilities with what you can do with these yard ornaments are endless, kind of like when I told you about premade swag bases.

Gather your supplies and let’s get crafting! You are going to love exactly how this turns out. If you are looking to learn how to tie different bows be sure to check out the Patriotic Bow Tutorials.

Lawn Ornament Spider in a wreath

Directions

  • First start by attaching your spider yard ornament to your wreath at three points. Also, using an 18 gauge wire attach a hanger at the top of your wreath form. Once you have made your hanger you can now hang it on your wreath form stand and continue to great your design.
  • Now take your yard art spider and maybe take some time to move around it’s legs and eyes to give it a little bend and give him some motion.
  • Take your orange 9 foot garland and do what I call shake hands with it. This means spread it out and separate the tinsels and fluff it out.
  • Place your orange garland around the whole wreath form. Cut some sections and placing it in sections around the wreath. Using its own tinsels you can secure it to the wreath. After you have worked your way around the wreath you can work your way down the long yard pick.
  • Dipping your ends of your curly stems into hot glue then placing them at the top of your wreath facing each other. Place your 2-1 bow in the middle of those culry stems
  • Contine to add in some stems. This time adding in the black and orange curly double sided stems. Always dip into hot glue before placing that way you know it will really place hold into your wreath.
  • Place some 3 to 4 orange and black curly double sided stems down in the orange garland that you put down your yard stick. You will have to secure these with zip ties or wire.
  • Add a bow about midway down the yard stick section. Then place your velvet ball picks behind your bow.
  • Place some Halloween embellishments like I did with the black cat pick I had. I placed it right in the middle of the bow. You can add any halloween embellishments you have here.
