July 21, 2022 | Door Hangers, Wreath Tutorials, Year-Round Designs

From start to finish you can create your own beautiful DIY Boho cross wreath in under 15 minutes. It’s quick and easy with only a few easy supplies! I love a quick and easy design and this one is no exception!

The gorgeous lamb’s ear and eucalyptus greenery make the perfect backdrop to add a few Boho touch with pampas grass that is bright and airy. Make a quick neutral bow with a traditional burlap ribbon and add some detail with the expandable jute on top. Cluster it all together and you have created a gorgeous Boho cross wreath for many occasions to come!

Boho Cross Wreath

Quick and easy is the name of the game today but we don’t sacrifice beauty! This Boho cross wreath is the perfect design for a baptism, wedding, graduation, and even can go with Christmas.

The use of neutral colors allow you to use this piece for almost any occasion. Even if you aren’t Christian, you can use these same supplies and techniques on a different base of your choice. Cluster designs like this one allow you to put together a simple cluster of beautiful greenery with subtle details that can still make a big impact.

Boho touches are so big coming into this Fall and Christmas seasons and are such a fun new trend in so many designs. When you are working with Boho details or greenery such as pampas grass stems, I find less is more when it comes to the overall design.

Adding in a few stems of pampas grass can go a long way when you have found the right height and layer with the perfect complimentary greenery. They are so fun and whimsy and add so much depth to this simple yet elegant design.

Let’s jump right in and get started!

Directions

  • Let’s start off by making our bow. Take your EZ Bowmaker and start with a 16” tail and cut the end at an angle. Make two 5” loops and trim the tail at an opposite angle.
  • Take the expandable jute and make a tail slightly shorter than the first. Make one 4.5” loop and trim the tails at opposite angles.
  • Run a cable tie along the center and close, keeping it loose while you pull the bow off. Fluff the loops and tails and add a second cable tie through the back for hanging the bow. Tighten the cable tie.
  • Cut a small length of the expandable jute and fold it over itself widthwise. Tie around the center of the bow to hide the cable tie. Trim the excess.
  • Grab the cross base and add the lamb’s ear with eucalyptus greenery diagonal across your base. Trim off the extra stem from the bottom.
  •  Add a few stems of pampas grass diagonal on the left and one going down towards the right side of your cluster, layered on the front of your greenery.
  • Cable-tie your cluster in the center. Turn over to the back side and trim extra stems. Fluff the stems and spread the greenery and pampas grass so it is nice and full.
  • Lay the cluster diagonal onto your cross bass for placement. Layer the bow on top, using the cable tie from the bow to attach them both onto the wire cross base.
  • Position the bulky ribbon tails into the back, behind the greenery. Rotate any eucalyptus or greenery to the front. Make any final adjustments to your boho cross wreath and enjoy!

How do you layout a wreath?

When you are designing a cluster piece or using a smaller base, it’s very important to not cover your base completely with the greenery and florals you add to it. For example, I like to try a sample loop size with some ribbon before making my bow, to make sure the size of the bow is proportionate to the base you are using.

You don’t want the components of the cluster or greenery you add to overpower or hide the base you are building on. These tips and tricks are great anytime you are using a base different from a traditional wreath form.
