Upcycle a Decorative Cutting Board Perfect for Farmhouse Home Accents

July 5, 2022 | Door Hangers, Floral Designs Tutorials, Year-Round Designs

Upcycle a decorative cutting board that you can find at most craft stores. It’s the perfect farmhouse themed home decor. It is so quick and easy to put this design together with just a few supplies.

The cute cotton and blue ribbon floral pattern go so well with the greenery and boho roses that add just the right touch of pink. The brown and cream check on the back peeks through and compliments the color scheme so well.

Let’s get started on this quick and easy design!

Upcycle a Decorative Cutting Board

I love finding pieces that inspire me to create something unique and different that are great for everyday décor! You could even create your own wooden board with whatever vinyl saying you’d like! This is so simple and quick that you can whip out a lot for craft shows or your online shops.

It takes a few supplies including a new fishtail fern bush we have in a custom color. The cream green fishtail fern bush is gorgeous and enhances the beauty of the boho rusty mini rose bush. The fern greenery looks so full and organic layer with the mini roses.

You can’t ignore a big focal point in that simple and classic bow that is front and center. The pink mini roses are the perfect complement to the colors on the blue Hydrangea floral pattern. The brown and cream check on the backside of the ribbon lends itself well to the neutral colors as well and adds a peek of contrast.

The dimension adds so much interest and the flowers and ferns feel like they are popping out straight for you! What a great way to upcycle a simple accessory and make it next level for everyday home décor. I can’t wait to show you how you too can make your own everyday floral décor accent piece for your home.

Everyday Floral Decor for Home Accents

Directions

  • Start with your EZ Bowmaker and add your 2.5” cotton with blue Hydrangeas ribbon on the dowel. Start with a 7” tail and twist and turn in the center so the floral pattern stays on the outside. Make two 5” loops on each side. Trim the tail straight across and curl the ends under.
  • Run a cable tie along the center and pull it off the Bowmaker. Close the cable tie, not all the way, while you fluff each loop and tail. Add a floral pin into the cable tie and cinch tight. Cut the excess off.
  • Cut a small piece of ribbon and fold it over itself. Tie around the back of the bow to hide the cable tie. Trim off the extra.
  • Hot glue a small piece of floral foam onto the top of the wood cutting board. Add some extra gorilla glue to secure. Add Spanish Moss around the foam to cover the hot glue.
  • Grab your cream green fishtail fern bush and bush the leaves up to cut the stems shorter. Separate into smaller stems. Dip the ends in hot glue and insert fern stems around the sides and top of the foam.
  • Add some hot glue onto the floral pin before inserting it into the center of the foam. Take your mauve and beige boho mini rose bundle and break it down into smaller stems.
  • Dip the ends in hot glue and add around the bow into the foam on both sides.
  • Take the last few stems of the fishtail fern and push the leaves up, leaving one longer stem and one shorter. Add some fern stems into the foam to slightly overlap the roses and fill in any holes in your piece.
