There is something about real succulents. These lush, hearty little plants are so great. Is it because they are so easy to keep alive? Y’all, I kill every plant I have ever owned, other than these. The trick is to ignore them and barely water them! They will thrive and survive. I promise.  Or is it because they have so many different textures and shades of green, purples, reds, and yellows?

Succulents are as pretty as a flower, but not nearly as delicate. I can’t put my finger on what it is exactly about them, but all I know is I love them. Can we also agree that crafting with FAKE succulents… well that is just plain genius!

In this craft, I will show you how to build on a beautiful wooden board that is already cute by itself. With a little bit of floral foam, some hot glue, faux moss, and a variety of gorgeous succulents, you can transform that board into something simply magical. In under 30 minutes, you will have an arrangement unlike any other.

Y’all, you just can’t go wrong with DIY succulent arrangement. Are you ready to get started?

Ingredients

  • Hello Beautiful Succulent Wooden Board

  • Crassula Succulent

  • Assorted 3 Piece Succulent Bag

  • String of Pearls Succulent Stem

  • Artificial Small Purple Echeveria Succulent

  • Assortment Bag os Succulent Picks

  • Faux Moss

  • Hot glue

  • Foam

Directions

  • Gather all of your succulent pieces and lay them out to create a visual plan for your board.
  • Cut a piece of floral foam to fit the lower section of your Hello Beautiful Succulent Wooden Board.
  • Dip the entire base of foam in hot glue and carefully place on your wooden board, centered.
  • Use faux moss to hide the foam and a bit of hot glue. Use a stick dipped in hot glue to help you add your moss, so you don’t burn those cute little fingers.
  • Play with the placement of your succulent pieces before you begin adding. This is key for this project.
  • Trim stems a bit if needed. Use wire cutters or a stem cutter for those extra fat stems.
  • Dip stems in hot glue before you firmly insert different succulent picks into your foam. The succulents will stand up trying to mirror the image on the board to begin with. But will transition to all sorts of angles by the time we are through.
  • Add pieces so they are added at an angle here and there, creating a natural flow of your succulents on the board.
  • You can add faux moss to hide your glue as you add to your foam throughout the project.
  • Add your succulents until your foam is full of pretty little plants creating a shape that is to your liking. Trim some of your bigger bundles into smaller sections to mix and match pieces throughout to fill in any gaps.
  • With your String of Pearls Succulent, remove tiny pieces from the main bundle. I like the hanging look, but not too long. Trim and add those other pieces throughout so they dangle and flow.
  • Once you have filled in any bigger gaps with any remaining succulent pieces, use your moss to help hide any foam that is peeking through.

Where to Place Succulent Arrangements

You can place succulent arrangements in your front entryway, back patio or garden, guest bedroom/bathroom, etc. You can even give them as a housewarming gift for others to enjoy in their home.
