Cross-Shaped Grapevine Door Hanger
Easter is right around the corner and we have a beautiful piece to help celebrate the reason for the Easter Season! I can’t wait to show you a super easy and quick design that uses a cross grapevine wreath base. The cream-colored peach blossoms and white berries scream Springtime and are so bright and cheery. Everyone is going to love this unique cross wreath with berries and peach blossoms!
Quick and easy designs are my favorite way to decorate for any season, and Easter is no exception! This also gives us a chance to use something like a cross wreath base, which we don’t get to do very often. It’s so unique and doesn’t require a lot to make a big impact. I love the mini leaf greenery we are using to build a foundation for the design. It’s classic and is the perfect base for the rest of the floral components of this wreath. The fresh peach blossoms along with the white berries, really pop when they are layered on top of the greenery.
We really want to use the length of the cross wreath base to enhance our design and draw our eye downward. I like to use longer stems also to help lengthen the design and keep with the flow. The white berry stems are perfect for this, and also add some whimsy and movement to the wreath. We are also going to cluster some stems together to get a nice full foundation. A simple 2-1 bow recipe with a classic black and white check with burlap border ribbon is the perfect neutral bow to enhance the other florals. Whether you are making a lot of these for your shops and booths, or just one for yourself, this cross wreath with berries is a stunner!
How to Make a Cross Grapevine Door Hanger

Cream Peach Blossom Stem
Green Mini Leaf Bush
Directions
- Start with a twig cross grapevine base. Cut your green mini leaf bush into smaller stems and “shake hands” with them to spread and fluff the stems.
- Crisscross the greenery stems and place them on the cross diagonally going left to right, along the length of the cross base.
- Repeat the same step to add more greenery stems to build up your swag base. Attach your base stems together at the stems with a cable tie.
- For the second layer, we are going to add a mini white berry stem. Tear your individual berry stems apart and spread each berry twig out.
- Crisscross the white berries, similar to the greenery base. Add a second layer of white berries on the bottom and cable tie to the base greenery.
- Grab your cream peach blossom and cut the longer spray from the stem. Add the two stems of peach blossoms going downward. Add the longer, single peach blossom coming up.
- Use your cable ties and tie everything together in the center. Add a dab of hot glue on top of the cable tie and Spanish moss to secure everything together.
- Place your greenery and floral base at an angle in the center of the cross. Use a cable tie to attach through the wire base to secure. Add another dab of hot glue and Spanish moss to hide the mechanics.
- Grab your EZ Bowmaker and the buffalo check trimmed with burlap ribbon. Your tails should be as long as the cross. Measure your first tail and add into the Bowmaker. Make two 6” loops on each side and trim the tails at opposite angles.
- Make a second set of tails half the length of the first. Then make one 5” loop on each side and trim the tails at opposite angles. Slide a cable tie around the center and pull the bow off. Add a second attachment cable tie through, then cinch the cable tie tight.
- Cut a small length of ribbon and fold over itself widthwise so the burlap is showing. Tie around the center to hide the cable tie.
- Attach your bow just under the cluster in the center of your swag base. Take the back tails and run behind the swag base. Curl the front tails up around your finger.
- Hot glue an individual stem of greenery coming from the bottom of your bow. Add a couple more if you’d like!
What is the difference between sprays and stems?
I often get asked what the difference between sprays and stems when we are talking about supplies that we like to use in our designs. The answer is simple:
- Spray: are longer and best used for projects, just like our cross wreath with berries, to add some length and draw your eye downward through your design.
- Pick: is an individual stem that is used singularly on its own usually.
