A simple, step-by-step guide to creating a beautiful Easter Buffalo Check Bunny door hanger using premade base forms with buffalo check fabric.
Buffalo Check Bunny Door Hanger
Springtime is almost here and you need this adorable Buffalo Check Bunny door hanger. It is ready to hop for Easter! I love premade base forms. This bunny wreath base allows you to quickly and easily have a new door hanger. Just add a few great floral pieces, a bow and you have a new door hanger!
In this project, I used a variety of greenery and twigs to create depth and fullness. The ivory and pink stripes paired with the black and white check. The bow I added just pops while also tying in the plaid Bunny. I can promise you one thing, that this door hanger is sure to please your customers or make a big impact on your own front door this Easter season.
Let me show you how easy it is to make this big buffalo check Bunny in under 20 minutes. The Bunny wreath base comes with its own hanger which allows it to hang at a slight angle. I think that it looks like it is almost hopping right off your door! This will help you know where the line of your design is. This helps you know where you want to start adding your beautiful flowers and greenery. Each project and design will naturally have its own flow. Which you’ll want to follow as you create more depth and dimension.
I’m loving the pink and fuchsia touches with the Hydrangea stems and pink daisies throughout the greenery bushes. It’s so important when you are working and designing pieces to make each element look its best by “shaking hands”. This is simply fluffing each stem and twig. Taking the time to make sure each flower is full and up can really make a difference in your design. Your buffalo check Bunny is going to look like a million bucks when you are finished, let’s get started!
Ingredients
Hydrangea Spray Fuchsia, Pink & Green
18″ Plastic Eucalyptus Bush Green
1.5″ Ivory Linen Fuchsia Horizontal Varied Stripes Ribbon on a 10 Yard Roll
1.5″ Black & White Gingham Ribbon on 10 Yard Roll
Directions
- Start by hot gluing a square piece of craft foam on the bottom to help support your design. Turn your bunny over and reinforce with some floral pins through the back into your foam block.
- Shake hands with your Hydrangea spray and fluff each branch and flower. Cut your spray into two pieces and cut the extra stem off. Dip the end in hot glue and add one coming from the bottom of the foam, and one on the top using a floral pin. Place the spray at a slight diagonal to keep in the line of your design.
- Separate each Eucalyptus bush into smaller stems and two different sections. Fill in the greenery at the base of the Hydrangea sprays close to the foam until it is nice and full.
- Let’s make a bow with our EZ- Bowmaker! Make a 20” tail with Ivory and Fuchsia striped ribbon and two 5 ½” loops on each side, pinching and twisting in the center. Trim your tails at an angle. Add the black and white check with an 18” tail and 5” loops on each side. Trim the tails.
- Finish it off with a bow tie of the pink and Ivory stripes measuring so each loop will be about 4 ¾” with a slight overlap in the back. Cinch the center and add between the dowels. Run a cable tie on the side of the center, pull it off and fluff your loops. Add a floral pin into the cable tie before you cinch it super tight.
- Cut a small length of black and white check and fold it widthwise onto itself. Tie around the center to hide your cable tie. Use the floral pin and some hot glue to insert the bow into the center of the foam. Pull the ties into the floral parts of your design and curl the tails up with your fingers.
- Tear the pink twig stem into smaller stems with a solid stem at the bottom. Insert pink twig stems throughout the florals and greenery making sure to follow the line and flow of your design.
- Grab the light pink twig stem and curl each twig around your finger and the grass with scissors. Add some twigs and stems to your design. Fill in any holes with some more greenery making sure your foam is completely covered.
