This past week, my daughter Kaya and I joined the Dig Pink event at Houston Christian High School, hosted in partnership with the Sideout Foundation — an organization dedicated to funding metastatic breast cancer research.
We participated in memory of my sweet mother-in-law, Arlene, whom we greatly miss and want to honor. Our team made pink hair ribbons, decorated hallways and the gym with colorful balloon arches, and sold baked goods and t-shirts to raise funds for breast cancer research. Every ribbon tied and cookie sold carried a piece of love and hope for those still fighting and those we remember.
As a volleyball mom, I couldn’t be prouder watching Kaya and her teammates come together for something bigger than the game. The gym was filled with pink balloons, silver stars, and a sea of smiling faces — all united for a cause that means so much to our family.

Volunteering alongside the players and parents was a beautiful reminder that community makes the biggest impact when we come together. 💕
If you’ve ever wanted to get involved in a meaningful cause, check out The Sideout Foundation’s Dig Pink initiative — it’s an amazing way to support research while spreading awareness through volleyball and teamwork. And for my creative friends: remember, small acts of beauty — like a handmade bow, a wreath, or a balloon arch — can brighten hearts in big ways. 💖
