What better way to celebrate this Christmas time than by creating a beautiful piece to honor the reason for the Season? We are creating a beautiful and elegant Nativity wreath using a metal Nativity scene we purchased previously. A stunning and large twig wreath base is the perfect backdrop for green eucalyptus leaves and glittery pine stems. The new pine stems are the perfect touch to add some elegant sparkle to this design.
Nativity Wreath Tutorial
Sometimes a great find from last year can make the perfect wreath for the current season! I was inspired by a recent collection of cream and pink wreaths when I came across this amazing Nativity scene that fit right into the same color palate. The gorgeous eucalyptus and pine stems are the perfect color to not take away from the focal point of the piece. There’s also a touch of glitter and sheen that adds an elegant sparkle.
We are using an oversized twig base as the backdrop for our design is gorgeous on its own so we don’t want to cover it all up with our greenery. A little will go a long way to bring out the twig base as a design element that will elevate the overall look.

You’ll want to continue following the direction that the twig base has already created for you as you start to build your greenery foundation. Placing stems along the outer perimeter will add more depth and dimension also as you put together your design. Let’s get started!
Ingredients
20″ Twig Vine Wreath Base Sunburst
Frosted Leaf Stem
Directions
- Take your metal Nativity scene and place it in the center of your wreath. Use zip ties on the bottom to attach the scene to the wreath base. Clip off the excess.
- Grab a couple of silver dollar eucalyptus bunches and separate them into smaller stems using your wire cutters. “Shake hands” with the leaves and dip the end into your glue pot.
- Follow the same direction as your twig base and add silver dollar eucalyptus at the clock hand positions. Cover any mechanics with Spanish moss.
- Take the pine with sugary glitter greenery and clip it into smaller stems. Dip the ends of hot glue and add in between each of the eucalyptus stems. Cut a few more stems from a second bush if necessary to continue filling in your base.
- Use the remaining pine with glitter stems and add further out along the exterior of your wreath base. Continue adding on the outer perimeter at every other pine stem.
- Do the same thing with another eucalyptus bush by adding smaller stems along the other perimeter of your wreath base at every other eucalyptus position. Incorporate some stems into the twig base as you go.
- Use a cable tie mount or a strong glue to adhere the top of the Nativity Scene to the wreath base.
How to Create A Balance Wreath Design?
A good way to create a balanced wreath design is to start by placing your greenery at the clock’s hand positions. This allows for a natural spacing to develop while you add more or new greenery elements to your wreath base. You also can help to maximize the size of your wreath by tricking your eye into thinking it’s larger when you add more greenery and stems from the outer perimeter of your base. This will draw your eye outward and make them look longer and more full.
